The table below shows the amount of waste producti( in millions of tonnes) in six different cuntries over a twenty- year period.
The given table illustrates the amount of waste output in various countries during a period of 2 decades starting from 1990 to 2000.
It can be seen from the table, in each of three years, the US produced more waste than Ireland, Japan, Korea, Poland, and Portugal combined. It is also noticeable that Korea is the only country that managed to reduce its waste production by the year 2000.
As is observed from the table, between 1980 and 1990, the amount of waste output in US increased from 131 to 192 million tonnes, and rising trends were true for Japan, Poland, and Portugal. The waste production of Japan rose from 28 to 32 million tonnes during a ten- year period starting from 1980 to 1990, while Poland and Portugal saw waste production go up from 4 to 5 million tonnes and 2 to 3 million tonnes respectively.
Looking the table in more detail, the trends for Ireland and Korea were noticeably different from those described above. The amount of waste output grew more than eightfold, from only 0.6 million tonnes in 1980 to 5 million tonnes in 2000. Korea, by contrast, cut its waste production by 12 million tonnes between 1980 to 2000.
