The table below shows the amount of waste produxtion( in millions tonnes) in six different countries over a twenty- year period
The provided table illustrates the amount of waste output in various countries during a period of 2 decades starting from 1980 to 2000.
It can be seen from the table, in each of three years, the US produced more waste than Ireland, Japan, Korea, Poland, and Portugal combined. It is also noticeable that Korea was the only country that managed to reduce its waste production by the year 2000.
Between 1980 and 1990, the amount of waste output in the US went up from 131 million tonnes to 151 million tonnes, and rising trends were true for Japan, Poland and Portugal. Waste production of Japan rose from 28 to 32 million tonnes, while Poland and Portugal saw wase totals increase from 4 million tonnes to 5 million tonnes and 2 million tonnes to 3 million tonnes, respectively.
Looking the table in more detail, the trends for Korean and Ireland were noticeably different from those described above. In Ireland, waste production grew more than eightfold, from only 0,6 million tonnes in 1980 to 5 million tonnes in 2000. Korea, by contrast, cut its waste production by 12 million tonnes between 1990 to 2000.
