Given is a table illustrating the change in gender distribution in the percentage of four categories of industries over two decades.
It is manifested that the percentage of both males and females showed a downward trend in manufacturing, while the proportion of both genders in the health industry has risen between 1990 and 2010. And most of the women preferred work in the health industry, manufacturing was the most welcomed industry of men.
In 1990, 31% of men worked in the manufacturing industry which was the highest percentage among other industries. The figure declined by 20 % in 2010, which only constituted 11%. Similarly, the proportion of female workers who worked in the manufacturing industry decreased from 15% in 1990 to 2% in 2010. Oppositely, there were 6% of men workers and 23% of women workers in the health industry in 1990, after two decades, the percentage of males and females rose to 9% and 26% respectively.
Men and women who worked in retail industry demonstrated an opposite trend, which the percentage of males worker dropped from 13% to 9% throughout the period, but the proportion of females increased 4%. The percentage of people working in retail were relatively stable in 20 years. (approximately 7%)
