The table compares the percentages of age, income and poverty population in 3 states in the United States, namely, California, Utah and Florida in 2000.
Overall, Utah had the highest population under 18 but the lowest 65-and-older population. It is clear that people in California was the biggest earners but suffered more from poverty than other states.
People aged under 18 made up 32,20% of Utah population while the figures for California and Florida were smaller, accounting for 27% and 23%, respectively. Regarding the 65-over age group, the largest plurality was in Florida at 17,60% while California took second place with only 10,60%. Utah’s elder population represented the lowest share of 8,50%.
Regarding average income per capita, California is the leading state with $23,000, followed by Florida and Utah, at $22,000 and $17,000, respectively. Much as people in California were paid annually higher than other state, more people lived in poverty, representing 14,20%. The second poorest state among the 3 states was Florida at 12,50%. Only 9,40% of Utah residents was under the poverty line.
