Overall, out of seven countries only the UK experienced increasing trend of personal savings from the beginning to the end of the period, where almost all the remaining others witnessed the opposite pattern.
In the year 1970, Italy was the country that lead the proportion of personal savings with 29.5% followed by France and Japan with 18.7% and 17.6% respectively. Canada gathered 5.6% of personal savings which was the lowest score in 1970. Although remaining in the same position to the year 1970, Italy experienced a decreased amount of personal savings to 17.6% in the year 1990. In the same year Canada scored almost double amount of personal savings and reached to 11.5% while Germany experienced a constant amount of personal savings with 13.8% after 20 year period.
In 2000, France and Japan jointly lead the proportion of personal savings with the same figure of 13.6%. USA on the other hand, continued to decline and reached to 4.0% of personal savings in the year 2000. Besides Canada got a significant drop of personal savings and reached to 1.9% and made the lowest score in the year 2000.
