The table below shows the results of a 20 year study into why adults in the UK attend arts events

The table illustrates the outcome of a 20-year research, which was conducted to find out reasons for attending different arts in the UK. The information is presented in terms of average adult attendance as a percentage of population.

Overall, the leading cause of attending entertainment events has been the preference to see a favorite artist over the study period. Arts for celebration purpose has dropped dramatically, whereas, business and kids have significantly increased as reasons for participating art events.

In view of seeing a celebrity, over half of UK adults have taken part in entertainment activities for last 20 years, and still remains as the primary reason at 56%. The percentage of adults who accompany kids for these events stood at 9% at the beginning of the study and has risen to just below 3 times (24%) today. Similarly, work reason has nearly doubled from 6% to 11% over the period.

In contrast, art events have reduced its popularity as a reason for celebrations in 3 folds, from 27% to 9% for last 20 years.
