As for details, the positive upward trend was settled by New Zealand and Chile with gradual growth from 28,8 percent to 31 percent and 20,4 to 21,5, respectively. Although these countries were not on the leading position among others, they tended to enlarge the percentage of their land covered with forests. Mulling over the predicted percentage, New Zealand will have 32,3 % and Chile will get additional 0,5%.
The opposite pattern can be observed in Australia and Brazil. Significant reduction of the number of forests shortened the percentage in Brazil from over 62 to nearly 57, whereas in Australia changes were less noticeable (21,3 in 2005 compared to 21,9 in 1990).
