Essay topics:

The table shows the number of employees and factories producing silk in England and Wales between 1851 and 1901. Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

The presented table indicates how employee and factory dimension of British silk industry varied from 1851 and 1901.

Overall, there were more females working in silk generation than male during the period. However, while the number of factories was upgraded, a downward trend was witness in that of total employees.

Turning into detail, in 1851, in comparison to male workers, which has 53.964 individuals, the figure for female was significantly higher, with 76.786. Over the next 50 years, the former decreased gradually to 13.375, whereas the latter also dropped steadily to over 25 thousand in 1901. As a result, starting at 130.750 people in 1851, there was a considerable decline to 38.943 in the entire employees.

Regarding to the remaining category, there were exactly 272 silk factories across the UK in 1851. The number grew remarkably to reach the peak of 761, before slightly reducing to 693 industrial units in 1871. Throughout the remainders of the period, despite a fluctuation, the figure was always kept above 620 factories.
