The tables compare the sale data of coffee and bananas in accordance with the Fairtrade facility in 1999 and 2004 of five nations.
Overall, it is apparent that coffee sale increased over the period. The same trend went with bananas sales, except for Sweden and Denmark. In both cases, UK and Switzerland are the two top countries in vending Fair trade coffee and bananas.
As seen from the former table, the UK was the country with the highest level of coffee trading, followed by Switzerland. Britain sales of coffee climbed tremendously after five years, from 1.5 million euros to 20 million euros. The figure for Switzerland was half of that of the UK in 1999 (3 million euros), but doubled in 2004. The remaining countries, including Denmark, Belgium, and Sweden had a quite similar movement in coffee trading, in compared to the UK in 1999. Those figures had only rose a few hundred thousand euros in the equivalent time span.
Regarding the latter one, Switzerland was on top of bananas consumption with 15 million euro spent. The number trebled to 47 in the next five years. While UK and Belgium’s figures adopt the compatible trend, rising slightly about 4 million. In contrast, the sales of bananas in Denmark dropped more than a half in 2004 (0.9 million euro), and Sweden declined nearly 1 million of euro.
