The three pie charts below show the changes in annual spending by particular UK school in 1981, 1991 and 2001.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

The given charts compare the changes of annual expense by a particular English school in 1981, 1991 and 2001.

The pie charts displayed that the school spent the most budget on teachers’ salaries. In 1981, the total money spent was 40% and increased to 50% in 1991; however, it was cut to 45% in 2001. On the other hand, the least amount of money was spent on insurance in all three years (1981, 1991, 2001), where none exceeded 9%.

Although the school spent most of its expenditure on teachers’ salaries, the amount allocated to other workers’ salaries decreased from 1981 (28%), to 1991 (22%), and 2001 (15%). In other categories, expenses for furniture and equipment showed some fluctuation over the years, where it reduced from 15% to 5% in 1981 to 1991, but lastly showed a rise to 23% in 2001. A fluctuation occurs similarly to resources such as books, where 15% of the school’s expenditure was spent in 1981. Despite an increase in 1991 to 20%, the school cut it’s expense on resources to 9% in 2001.

Overall, the school spent a significant amount of expenditure on teachers’ salaries, however other workers’ salaries were spent a lot less. While insurance was spent on the least, other resources and furniture and equipment fluctuated in all three years.
