The stipulated pie diagrams depicts the main sources of energy in the United State of America in 1980 and 1990. The mentioned parameters are nuclear power, hydroelectric power, coal, natural gas and oil.
It is clear from the data that, In 1980, USA depended more on fossil fuels for generating power, which together almost accounted for 70% of total energy source. Out of which 42% of energy was from oil and 26% was from natural gas. Renewable energy sources like hydroelectric power and nuclear power was constituted only a very small proportion of America's total energy requirements, which was 5% each. 22% of country's energy was generated from coal as well.
In 1990 also, Unites States energy source dependence was almost the same but there was some changes in proportions. Like their dependence on oil was reduced by 9% and on natural gas was reduced by a mere 1% as compared to the previous record. The important point to be noted that, a marginal increase on the dependence on nuclear power, it was almost doubled and constitute 10% of its required energy from it.
In conclusion, it is evident that USA's reliance on non- renewable energy sources showed a declining trend except in coal. While, there dependence of natural energy sources showed a rising trend.
