The given line graph illustrates the pollution quantity in London in the period from 1600 to 2000.
Overall, as can be seen, the proportion of pollution levels in London fluctuated dramatically over the period. Another visible trend is that sulphur dioxide reached the highest point of pollution in 1850.
Looking at the details, in 1600, the levels of both pollutions formed a similar percentage, but there were higher levels of sulphur dioxide than smoke in the atmosphere, at under 50 micrograms per cubic metre. About 900 micrograms per cubic metre of the sulphur dioxide level were formed in 1850, compared to around 450 micrograms of the smoke level was formed in the year 1900.
By contrast, the period from 1900 to 2000 witnessed a significant fall in the figures for both pollutants, and these changes continued to fall with major fluctuations to nearly 0 micrograms per cubic metre in the following years.
