It is becoming increasingly popular to have a year off between finishing school going to university. What are the advantage and disadvantages of this?

Now a days, it has become a popular practice that younger generation prefer to take a break after completing high school before joining the universities or their related field studies. The idea may sounds good to some extent but the rare side of the picture also containing some drawbacks.

Above of all, the main advantage of taking a break can boost up the student to re-energize himself for higher studies, a student can refresh himself after having a hectic daily routine of studies, especially those who had a target of desired marks to achieve a specific goal. On the other hand, it could be counted as a bad impact upon the student career of the one, he may lose interest in his studies or might be he could not maintain that pace and enthusiasm after re-starting his further studies. Another advantage of the said is more appreciable if the one who is taking the said break for improvement of his skills, either taking admissions in any lingual course, computer technology or related field abilities enhancement that would result in some fruitful utilization of said time period. Again the disadvantage associated would be distraction of the person from his original goal and he/she may start having interest on later side. Some of the students also take part in some kind of voluntary work nearby that is for sure a better usage of leisure time. Many of the students engage themselves in some internships either paid or unpaid, that is obviously a worth paying step as it enhances their career capabilities and mentioning them in their portfolio increases the weightage of their resume as and when needed.

Summarizing up, it could be rightly said that anything has both lighter and darker shades, it is the one who decides how to utilize it for his favor or against. Taking a break from studies could be advantageous if the one may extract out some benefits out of it, otherwise, if shown, disadvantages may mask up the whole scenario.
