The diagrams illustrate the transformations that have occurred at West Park Secondary School since its erection in the year 1950.
As can be seen that from the diagrams, it is clearly evident that there were significant shifts in the area during the researched period such as the appearance of a parking lot and the demolition of the farmland.
In 1950, the area witnessed the construction of a large number of houses which were adjacent to a school built along the main road. In addition, there was a playground erected next to a piece of land used for the farming purpose. In 1980, the housing area was torn down to make way for a parking space and a science block which was the extension of the school. Moreover, the zone underwent the erection of a sports field as a replacement of the farmland. In contrast, the main building of the school and the playground remained at the previous location.
Until the year 2010, the demolition of the sports field led to the enlargement of the car park and a part of the playground’s area was used to build the new sports field. By contrast, the school’s main building and science block stayed the same.
