Question:
Discuss some of the problems overreliance on cars can cause and suggest a possible solution

Answer

In this modern era, cars are considered one of the safe mode of transportation. However, too much dependence on them have been associated with certain problems. This essay will discuss some of these problems and possible solutions, followed by a reasoned conclusion.
There are many problems attributed to excessive usage of cars. Firstly, on an individual level, people who overused cars are liable to sedentary life style. Recent study show that 70% of those individuals developed diseases like diabetes and hypertension, which are closely related to lack of exercise. Secondly, from environmental perspective, it contribute greatly to environmental pollution. For example, those cars uses fuel which emit harmful gases that destroyed the ozone layer, which serve as a protection to human beings. Looking at these problems, too much use of cars has deleterious effects on humans and the environment.
On the other hand, some strategies can be done to minimise the problems. One of the solution is people should be using bicycle at some point of their mobility which will help in keeping them active and preventing them from having those diseases associated with sedentary life style. For example, people from Kano are reported to have the least cases of hypertension because of their frequent use of bicycle. Also, the government should provide alternative means of transportation like metro and railway, in order to reduce the burden of pollution in the environment. For instance, Spain has low record of pollution, because of many railways available in the city. Moreover, government should banned the use of old cars which are responsible for emitting green house gases. We can see that, these problems can be greatly reduced if the above measures are put in place.
To conclude, rigorous use of cars have been contributing to many problem both to the person and his environment. Creating alternate routes, use of bicycle and law enforcement by the government are possible soulutions.
