Work is being done on the street where you live. The noise is disturbing you.
Write a letter of complaint to your local council. In your letter:
introduce yourself
explain what the problem is
suggest solutions to the problem
Dear Sir/Madam,
I am writing to complain about the noise emanating from the construction work being carried out on my street.
My name is John Doe and I live on Main Street at the intersection of Main and Center street. My house number is 205 and have lived here for 10 years.
The road relaying work that has been going on for the last 10 days has been a huge annoyance for us. The work continues even throughout the night and the noise is unbearable at times, making it difficult to fall asleep. Due to a lack of sleep, I am having trouble at work and is also impacting my son's studies.
I understand the road is being relaid for our convenience, but I would suggest if the work can be carried out only during the day. It can be started around 9.00 am and continue till the evening, which will not impact the pace of the work, but will be of immense relief to us who are affected by the constant noise. Furthermore, the workers can use some sound absorbing materials to mask the sound coming from the machines, that will surely lessen the intensity of the noise.
Hoping you will redress this issue promptly.
Yours faithfully,
John Doe
