Essay topics:

You and your family are living in rented accommodation in an English speaking country. You are not satisfied with the condition of some of the furniture.

Write a letter to your landlord. In your letter
• introduce yourself
• explain what is wrong with the furniture
• say what action you would like the landlord to take

Dear Mr David,

I am John, the tenant, who resides in your flat number 25 at Baker Street with my family. I am writing this letter to you in order to express my dissatisfaction with the condition of some of the furniture.

As you might guess, it is the dinner table and its chairs. While I was having a luncheon with my wife and children, one of my children fell down because the chair has a broken leg. Thus, I checked every piece of the furniture and I found three chairs have fractured legs. Moreover, the table seems obsolete which is unlikely to stand for a few days, and it is not only outdated but also quite small that cannot assimilate our big family.

If it is more convenient for you, perhaps you could simply replace the table and chairs. This would solve the problem without too much cost, so I hope you agree with this proposed solution.

I look forward to hearing from you.
Yours sincerely,
John
