Essay topics:

You are planning a short visit to a city where one of your relatives lives.

Write a letter to your relative. In your letter:

• Explain when and how long you will be in town.

• Ask whether you can stay at their home.

• Offer to pay for yourself.

Dear Cathy,

It’s been long since I last saw you. How are you?
I will be visiting Singapore in the beginning of next month for some research work. Initial planning is to be in the city for 5 days, but I might extend it couple of days in case any of the factory visit get postponed.

After checking the google map, I came to realize that the research center where I will be reporting everyday is just two stops away in bus from your residence. So, how about I stay at your home if you are in town and got some spare space? I will genuinely appreciate it as it will be the best way for me to make the most of the trip by spending time with you and you little daughters.

Lastly and most importantly, I would like you to accept a nominal fees for my stay as I will be reimbursed from the host organization anyway. Also, I would not feel comfortable staying at your place for free, especially because this is a work trip.

I will wait for your reply!

Take care,
Shahla
