Dear Sir,
I am writing this letter to apply for a day leave on 15th December 2019. I would like to apologize for requesting a day leave on such a short notice, especially during the week when we have scheduled couple of important meetings. Last week, I received a letter from one of my close friend Sam, stating that his father has been diagnosed with blockages in his heart, and the doctor has advised his father to undergo a bypass surgery.
My friend Sam is native of Australia and has no relatives or close friends in India besides me, hence he has requested me to be present at the hospital with him. In order to help Sam, I plan to spend the night before the surgery in the hospital with uncle, so that Sam can get some rest. On the day of the surgery, I also intend to take care of the hospital formalities like filling up of medical forms, make payments etc. while Sam can spend some quality time with his father before the operation.
As, I will not be able to attend the important meetings scheduled on 15th December, I have decided to give a complete hand-over to my team who will attend the meetings in my absence. Additionally, I have asked Mr. Shah to head those meetings as he is a senior member of my team and has desired expertise. I am happy to meet you along with Mr. Shah on 12th December to brief you about the agenda and key points that will be discussed in the meetings. Kindly let me know a convenient time for the meeting.
I would appreciate, if you could consider my last-minute leave application request.
