You are working for a company. You need to take some time off work and want to ask
your manager about this.
Write a letter to your manager. In your letter
• explain why you want to take time off work
• give details of the amount of time you need
• suggest how your work could be covered while you are away.
Dear Sir,
I am writing this letter to request you a fortnight’s day off from work, as I am going to wind up my post-graduation course this year.
You probably know that I am doing my master’s in Business school of Singapore to meet progression in career. However, my final exams are approaching in the coming week starting from August 1st and will continue till August 11th. As this is my final year I must take up these exams in Singapore to complete my masters successfully or else all the efforts I have made will remain futile.
Having said before, my exams lasts for a week and I have to travel from India to Singapore, moreover I need to prepare for my exam. Including all these I need a 2 week’s day off work so that not to put all my efforts in vain.
I understand the inconvenience that will cause to the work if an employee is on long leave, but I have already talked with John about the impediments in my absence. So, I am happy that he will be taking care of some of my responsibilities in my temporary absence to work. I will be available by email in case of any emergency.
Thank you in advance for your kind coöperation.
Regards,
Jenney
