Extreme sports such as sky diving and skiing are very dangerous and should be banned. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this view?
In this modern era, there's been a noticeable uptick in the popularity of extreme sports, sparking discussions about whether the associated risks should be taken into account and if regulations are necessary. While I agree that activities like skydiving and bungee jumping can be perilous for participants, I don't believe banning them is the solution, as it could dampen the enthusiasm of athletes.
On one hand, it's undeniable that certain extreme sports, such as parachuting and skiing, come with inherent dangers. For instance, a lack of experience in handling safety equipment, like parachutes or jumpsuits, can lead to tragic accidents, as seen recently in Quang Ninh, Vietnam, where a skydiver lost his life due to mishandling of his parachute. Additionally, individuals with pre-existing mental conditions like acrophobia may risk losing consciousness when confronted with extreme heights during these activities, further increasing the potential for accidents.
On the other hand, I argue against imposing bans, especially considering the growing number of thrill-seekers eager to participate in such sports. It's important to preserve the spirit of sportsmanship and allow enthusiasts to engage in activities that ignite their passion. Moreover, rumors about the unavailability or inadequacy of safety equipment are often unfounded, as licensed agencies are legally obligated to ensure the safety of participants by thoroughly inspecting and maintaining equipment.
In conclusion, while it's true that extreme sports carry significant risks to participants, I maintain that outright prohibition is not the answer, as it would stifle the sporting spirit. Instead, measures should be taken to enhance safety standards and promote responsible participation in these exhilarating activities.
