The trend for students to study abroad is increasing nowadays, especially students of developing countries. However, I strongly disagree with the idea that sending students to study abroad is the only way to help a country greatly benefit.
Firstly, the government often sponsors scholarships for excellent students to study in developed countries, this helps students learn in more professional places, and their abilities are maximized. However, because of these benefits, students often choose to stay in that country after finishing their studies to work with higher wages, more jobs than in their home countries. Therefore, the risk of brain drain appeared. As a result, the country did not benefit and lacked the human resources with high levels of knowledge. Moreover, when talented graduates study for doctorates, professors in other countries and settle there, their country will lose highly knowledgeable lecturers.
Secondly, developing countries are in world integration, so training and facilities are also expanded and upgraded. Universities have been improved to bring the best quality to students while studying, and after graduation, employment opportunities are much more comprehensive than before. Plus, learning in the home country helps students and teachers and the government efficiently manage, assess quality, find gaps in education to come up with remedial measures, and develop the country more.
In conclusion, studying abroad is a great way to improve qualifications and benefit a country, but it is not the only way. The government can improve the country's education more to give more plentiful opportunities for students to study and work in their country instead of choosing abroad to study.
