In some countries today, many people decide to have their first child when they are older.
What are the reasons? Do you think the advantages of this outweigh the disadvantages?
In today's fiercely competitive market, the rising unemployment rate has prompted individuals worldwide to prioritize financial stability over parenthood or having their first child at a later stage in life. This essay aims to point out the reasons and prove that the drawbacks of this outweigh the merits.
There are numerous arguments that lead to this problem, one of which is the challenging nature of raising young children. The demands of attending to midnight cries and dealing with school-related resistance can lead to exhaustion and mental strain on parents who are already grappling with work pressures. These challenges might even give rise to serious consequences, affecting both the parents' well-being and the quality of family life. Moreover, the financial burden of upbringing a child is growing significantly. It is evident from rising inflation and increasing costs of essential needs like housing, food, healthcare, and clothing for babies. It is understandable why young couples choose to focus on saving money and securing a reliable source of income before starting a family.
From my point of view, this trend has negative implications not only for familial relationships but also for the overall health of parents. Delaying parenthood often results in a significant age gap between parents and their children. As this generation gap widens, parents may find it challenging to comprehend and fulfil their child's evolving needs, potentially leading to family conflicts and strained relationships. In addition, having a child after the age of 35 increases the risk of complications during pregnancy and childbirth for the mother, while the newborn faces an elevated likelihood of health issues. This can make the mature child face up with dangerous issues and it is also a fear for the father and mother.
In conclusion, many couples are choosing to postpone having children due to financial constraints and a desire to be better-prepared parents. Additionally, I am convinced that this trend has negative implications for family bonds and overall well-being. To tackle this issue, governments should consider introducing incentives that encourage young couples to start families and have children earlier in life.
