Whether it is more effective for students to study alone or in a group is controversial among people. From my perspective, both approaches have their pros and cons, and pupils must decide which to put into action, based on their own studying styles.
On the one hand, studying in a group has numerous advantages for participants. First of all, students benefit from the exchange of knowledge by sharing their views during group study. As each has distinct strengths and weaknesses, this benefit leads to synergic results, far more fruitful than that of each individual. Furthermore, the positive energy spreading within the group is a great driver for members to retain motivation. For instance, this is more likely to get bored in case you study alone, rather than with classmates.
On the other hand, the advantages of studying alone should not be underestimated. The first and foremost advantage is being free to proceed at your own pace. Because not every individual processes the questions at the same speed, these differences may result in losing confidence by some students. Therefore, ones with lower processing speed can avoid such hardships by studying alone. Another apparent benefit of individual studying is the higher concentration you merely experience while studying in a group. This approach not only provides you with an in-depth understanding of the subject but also prevents you from being distracted by others.
In conclusion, despite the benefits of both studying manners for pupils, from my standpoint, the effectiveness of each approach mainly depends on the preferences of individuals and the alliance of their needs with the advantages offered by each method.
