Is there any value in studying academic subjects that are not ‘useful’ in termsof generating wealth for the country?
Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience
With the advancement of technology, these days, abounding subjects have been created and brought to school or university for students to study. So difficult it is to identify whether those disciplines are useful or not and depends on how we define the term 'useful'. In this essay, I will show that although some subjects may not lead directly to generate wealth for the country, it is still useful.
On the first side, to be used in student's curriculum, the Educational Minister has considered accurately, so there will not have any unusable academic subjects. For instance, History, some people will say that why they need to learn such a dull subject which has abundant information cannot assist for their life. However, try to realize again, that information will teach how our ancestors created and built this territory for their generation. Based on that knowledge, we will know the right ways to develop our country through its strengths and weaknesses found out by ancestors. Therefore, every subject we learn will be useful directly or indirectly on the sides.
On the second side, whether we find out the relevant knowledge and objects of those fields before claiming it is useless? Imagine that you dream to be a marketer but your academy force you to study chemistry and how to make chemical solutions. This syllabus by chance causes users to misunderstand those subjects are impractical just because it cannot assist them to earn money and develop their skills to help the country. Therefore, there will not be any useless subject, it only has subjects that are not advisable for learners.
In summary, arranging subjects applicable to learners is extremely significant in terms of generating wealth for a nation, therefore, the Educational Minister should consider conscientiously before determining. Besides, people must know that there will not be any useless subject to be instructed at school.
