One of the best ways that parents can help their teenage children prepare for adult life is to encourage them to take a part-time job.
Living in today’s complex society necessitates everyone to enhance the level of knowledge and experience in the early stages of life. In this regards, there has been a heated controversy among parents on whether it is a appropriate approach to encourage children to take a part time job or not. I personally believe that if it does not intervene with educational matters could be a wise approach for a couple of reasons.
We all know that the most important matter adults are dealing with is monetary affairs. The most successful persons are those who know well how to manage money and how to save money for the future. If the same experience occurs during childhood, it can be the most significant guide for living in adult ages. The children can take a part time paid job and provide, for example, their daily expenses through the salary of the same job. In this way, the children are thought that they are not able to buy everything they want; if so, their money will be finished. In addition, they will learn that if they want to buy a costly object, they have to save their money for several weeks or months.
Besides being good monetary managers, children are able to learn the concepts of responsibility from the early ages of their lives. Adults have different and heavy responsibilities in family and workplace. If they fail to accomplish their duties, undoubtedly they face severe problem in their lives. Therefore, it is very important for children to learn that if they undertake a responsibility, they should try their best to do it from childhood. Employers usually determine rewards or punishments with respect to the quality of doing job. If children are though these concepts practically by a part time job, there are unlikely face a severe problem in their adult lives. Reading biography of the successful businessmen vividly reveals that most of them took a job in their childhood. Taking a job not only helped them to be financially independent but also they made them to be diligent and patient to reach their goals.
In the light of aforementioned details regarding the importance of taking a part time job, I would believe that parent should cautiously suggest children appropriate part time jobs to teach them the responsibility and the money management in their early stages of their lives.
