Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? The rules that societies today expect young people to follow and obey are too strict.
In today’s convoluted world, it is generally apparent the fact that the rules are the cornerstone of managing every society. In this regard, there is a controversial debate among individuals about the strictness of regulations for younger generations than past. Some people may hold the view that modern societies require the youth to follow stringent laws, while, some others take the opposing viewpoint. I firmly believe that youngsters feel more freedom thanks to the fact that they are expected not to obey strict rules. In the following, I will elaborate upon my standpoint through two pieces of evidence.
The first exquisite point to mention is that rules are developing to become more useful than strict. It is generally agreed that when societies force young generations to follow more strict rules, they will withstand new regulations. Moreover, it would be no exaggeration if someone says that legislators generally know that strict rules have a devastating impact on the society. Consequently, they attempt to pass regulations that are more achievable than strict. By way of illustration, take my personal experience as an example. When I studied at primary school, parents required students to study and compete with their classmates in order to attain satisfactory grades. However, the defects of employing grades as an indicator of representing the success of children’s education give rise to devising new rules for investigating the performance of young students. In this system of education, new laws do not restrict children’s creativity, so students have more opportunity to become educationally flourishing.
Another reason which deserves some words here is that young people are more cognizant of their rights thanks to modern ways of communication which make it arduous to legislate tough rules against them. No one can neglect the fact that modern societies spend more times reading multifarious books and watching more movies. Besides, having access to global internet paves the way for informing peoples. In other words, technological devices opened doors for enhancing the level of literacy and active thinking. Therefore, the youth will request the freedom that they watch in other countries and do not permit society in order to force them to follow strict rules. According to a recent study that has been published in Time magazine, researchers investigated the relationship between protesters’ age and the number of them in more than 23 protests in California. The results of this study revealed that more than 80 percent of protesters against strict rules were young persons under age 25. Scholars pointed out that applying social media application such as Twitter as the main source of grasping news has given the youngsters the opportunity to be the majority part of these days’ protests against strict rules.
