Do you agree or disagree with the following statement?
Among all the characters that a successful person has,
communication skill is the most important.
Throughout the histoy, human being has always tried to be successful, for it brings a lot of adavntages. Scholars have always tried to find the crucial factors which participate in being successful and increase the chance of being a role model for others. One of controversial questions is that whether communication skill is the most important skill which contributes to being a successful person. Although some people might agree with this statement, I contend that communication is not the most important factor in being successful. In the following paragraphs I will delve into the most significant reasons supporting my viewpoint.
The first reason to be mentioned is that several skills are required for a person to be able to succeed and stand out among peers and one of them is being able to communicate effectively. Nowadays competition in every field is fierce and people are thriving to succeed in their jobs so numerous skills are required to stand out including talent, persistence, honesty, expertise and so on. Because of the severe competition the more you have of these characters, the more you will be successful. If a person does not have one of these characteristics the chance of reaching success will decrease.
The second reason is that there are a lot of people with high communication skills but they are not successful which is an evidence that this skill is not the most important requirement for success. Moreover, a lot of successful people lack good communication skills. For example, Larry Page founder of Google is an introverted person and he confessed in one of his interviews that he does not benefit of an impressive interpersonal skills. He also added that in fields which your product’s quality is of more importance people who are introverted can be more successful since they concentrate their energy on their work rather than communicating with others.
So to sum it up, there are a lot of factors important in being successful such as persistence, honesty, expertise and so forth and without every one of them the chance of being successful will diminish considerably. Also, there have been a lot of role models in the history who have not benefited from good interpersonal skills.
