Do you agree or disagree with the following statement?The best way to reduce air pollution is for the government to raise the cost of fuel?

It has became a worldwide concerns on how to reduce air pollution effectively. Some people claim that the best way is for the government to raise the cost of fuel. There's no denying fact that considering the increasing cost of fuel will lead to a raise on spending and thus make people who already have cars to drive less than usual and is going to chill out enthusiasms of those who initially thought about buying cars. That is to say, to some extent, a reduction in the uses of cars does contribute to a reduction of evaporation of gas into the atmosphere. However that does not means that I agree an increasing on cost of fuel is the best way to reduce air pollution. Since a logical response requires an accurate analyses from both sides, here I present the following justifications.

The first and most significant aspect that we must admit is that fuel played a decisive role in the processes of Industrial Revolutions in human history which has laid a solid foundation for our modern society. Evidently we would be still in a far more backward society than we have today. Our society couldn't have approached such a big stride and even can't go further without utilizing fuel. Nowadays, goods from any countries could be transported to any other places in the world, people can go from one place to another in a short time, almost every product that we need are produced in factories. And all these are based on the usage of fuel. Without fuel, all these we have today would be impossible . In view to those aspects, if government raise cost of fuel will directly increase people's cost of living and cost of production in the industries, but this is not going to end up a effectively reduction on gas evaporation into the atmosphere and not going to solve the problem of air pollution.

To sum up, I don't deny that a raise on the cost of fuel has a positive aspect, but taking all the factors into account and careful analyzing all aspects, I assert that the best and effective way to reduce air pollution is for us to explore other substitutable energy sauces which are sustainable and environmental-friendly.
