Second, the article posits that cutting all the trees result in lacking of birds, fishing, and implantation in the island, hence , there was no food available for the residents. However, the professor explains that many studies suggest that lacking of the trees happened as a result of the harmful effect of rats, which mainly reflected by lacking palm tree. According to the professor, seeds have been found to prove that issue.

Third, The reading says that population in the island have declined from 12000 to 2000 persons , due to the lack of food. The professor says that there was no enough time for the humans in the island to grow to 12000 life.
