In an effort to encourage ecologically sustainable forestry practices, an international organization started issuing certifications to wood companies that meet high ecological standards by conserving resources and recycling materials. Companies that rece

The reading states that the wood companies in the United States don't have to recieve eco-certification which is given by an international organization. However, the professor opposes this arguement and refutes each of the points made in the reading.

First, the reading claims that American consumers wouldn’t be so interested in the eco-certification label because they do not consider that these advertises represents the truth. On the other hand, the professor implies that all the Americans don’t treat the same way to these advertises. They could react to these eco-certificated products very favorably for international reputation of their country.

Second, the reading argues that the eco-certificated wood would cause a great increase in price because there would be fees must be payed to certification agensies so that, the consumers will be more likely to buy the uncertificated woods. Opposely, the professor disaggrees with this idea by explaining that the price difference would be small (maybe less that %5), and US costumers would choose these products to benefit their country and preserve the environment as well.

Lastly, the paragraph states that this eco-certificated products can only be beneficial if they would be sold to abroad. Controversly, professor refutes this idea and he says that if US wouldn’t sell its own products in it, then there would be a competition in foreign countries and that would be unbeneficial for US.
