According to the reading passage, it is stated that even though dinosaurs were reptiles and considered not to be endotherms, there is now evidence that they were endotherms, and it provides the reasons to deal with the problem. However, the professor in the listening states, why the assumptions mentioned in the reading passage were not correct and refutes them by describing three reasons as follows.
Firstly, the reading claims that dinosaur fossils have been found in polar regions, where only animals that can keep their body temperatures above would survive. The professor casts doubt on this point by saying that the temperature of polar zones during hot months were much warmer than today. She states during cold periods, dinosaurs were used to migrated to warmer regions or hibernated. Hence, it can't be a reason of dinosaurs being endotherms.
Secondly, the article posits that a connection between endothermy and position of the legs can be another reason for this proof. In contrast, the professor says that legs positioned underneath dinosaurs' body were a support for their more weight. According to the professor, dinosaurs more weight resulted in their very large size which was advantageous for them.
Finally, the reading says that there is also a connection between endothermy and having a bone structure which is called Haversian canals. The professor opposes this point by explaining that however dinosaurs had Haversian canals and growth rings, they were not rapidly growing; they grew slowly during cold, but animals which were endotherms, grew rapidly even when environment became cool.
