Is four day workweek positive or negative

Essay topics:

Is four-day workweek positive or negative?

Both reading and listening discuss a four-day workweek. The passage argues that a four-day workweek has a positive effect on the whole company and individuals. But in the lecture, the professor holds a different view that no one will be beneficial from the new workweek.

First, according to the reading, the theory is great because a four-day workweek can increase the benefit of the company. However, the listening passage states that this theory needs more employees. As a result, teaching the new employees is expensive and needs a lot of staff and money.

Second, the text states that a four-day workweek creates new jobs. In contrast, the lecturer mentions that due to the previous reason-the theory is expensive-not only they do not create a new job but also they force the employee to work overtime.

Third, the reading passage states that a four-day workweek rises the quality of employees’ lives by having more time. However, the listening passage states that less work time causes less flexibility and can threaten the promotion process.

To sum up, this is how the listening passage causes doubts on the point made in the reading passage.
