Franchises benefits

Essay topics

In the lecture, the professor makes a series of points that cast doubt on all the arguments presented in the passage about the benefit of franchises. She sates, closely following and watching franchises showed different results and called their benefit into question.
First of all, the author claims that franchises provide reliable supplier and save money. However, the profesor states that they force franchise owners to buy specific goods and services which is not cheap and even are very expensive. Hence, it will cost for business owner a lot.In other words, franchise owner are not allowed to buy the cheaper and better quality product.
Also, the professor refutes the idea that was presentd in the passage about no need to advertise in franchise business. She states, actually they have to pay 60 percent of their sale money for advertisement to the company which they do not own. The advertisement advertises the company's product not their own product and they make little benefit out of it. This amount could be half if they advertise for their own business and they have freedom.
Lastly, the lecturer says the security of franchises are better than first time businesses but the security of business could be increased by third option which is less risky and was not pointed in the passage. In fact, if a person buy an independent business from previous owner, they would have twice chance of success and the failure rate would be less.
