Genetic modifications of the trees.
The reading passage and the lecture both discuss genetic modification of the plants. While the reading passage in favor of this modification, the speech disagree with the advantages of the modification of the plant.
First, The reading passage claims that by saying the plants are stronger than natural plants. This means the genetically modified trees are more resistant to the severe weather conditions than the natural one. Although, the professor argues that by stating the modified trees may be resistant to the harsh weather conditions but the naturally occurring plants although could not overcome these situations, they may be one species could resist even more than the modified one.
Second, the reading passage discusses the genetically modified trees are quickly grown and give their product more efficiently than the natural trees so this means they are more worthy than the native trees. While the professor claims that by telling the picture is not point out all situations because of the cultivation of the seeds of the modified trees are more costly than natural one because under the law the farmer cannot use these seeds again for free.
Third, the reading passage points out the usefulness of the modified trees in case of overexploitation because they grow fast. While the professor claims that by saying these trees may be negatively affected on the natural trees because the modified trees are aggressive and compete for the resources with naturally one.
