Glass is a favored building material for modern architecture, yet it is also very dangerous for wild birds. Because they often cannot distinguish between glass and open air, millions of birds are harmed every year when they try to fly through glass windows. There are, however, several solutions that responsible businesses can use to prevent injuries to birds.
he article states that the glasses using in the structure are so dangerous to fly birds, and millions of birds are harmed every year, for they are trying to pass it through, and provides three reasons for support. However, the professor explains that none of the solutions well effectively avoids the birds harming and refutes each of the author's reasons.
First, the reading states that provide the one-way glass that is transparent in merely one surface, thereby understanding a solid barrier from birds. The professor refutes this point by stating that the one-way glass leads to the glass look like a mirror; whereby, the birds recognize the glass reflection as a tree or sky; therefore, the flight through them, and they are injured.
Second, the article claims that the architectures can use the painted pattern on the glass to avoid the birds crashing. However the professor contends the birds perceive this pattern and the hole thereof as an open hole; Hence they try to escape through this extremely small hole. In addition, the dark inside of the house due to this painting makes people boring.
Third, the reading avers that the structure in a bird's flight way can be equipped with a magnetic machine that emits a magnetic signal that prevents the birds from accident with buildings. The professor opposes this point by declaring that the birds not only use the bright light, their eyes to navigate in the short distance but use the magnetic compass to navigate in the very long distance; it will have not a much effective approach.
