Essay topics:

A government should focus its budget more on young children’s education than on universities.

Should the government put the budget more on young children's education rather than on universities? The answer is yes. I have to concede that university development relies mainly on government financial support. However, early education eagerly needs extra financial aids to guarantee the quality of teaching and facilities.

Firstly, children in five to eighteen are in a crucial stage of intelligence development thus deserve more attention and better educators. According to the latest report from China Children's health fund, children's brains mainly develop in their 5 to 18 years old. Besides, the costs are usually very high to train and educate competitive elementary and secondary teachers. In return, the salary of the teacher is pretty high. As the number of qualified teachers increases, K-18 education becomes unaffordable for parents. Therefore, the government should spend more money on early education to relieve this problem.

Secondly, good facilities are another important component of education. Although universities may argue that postsecondary education also requires support, however, there is much excellent research were done without government financial support. For example, the latest quick charge battery and artificial chemical lighting were invented without the government's help. Meanwhile, these great inventions will never realize without the help of early stimulation in one's creative and analytical character.

Admittedly, college education needs money. Usually, the salary of professors and the price of equipment are very high. However, colleges should depend on the donation of social organizations, large companies, and outstanding alumni. These groups can relieve much of the financial pressure. What's more, consider that university education is usually for elite and often an optional career. Thus, college should not impose more pressure on the general public and should instead charge more tuition fees from students who enroll in the program.

In conclusion, although a college needs funds to rebuild the campus, renew the laboratories, and refill the libraries, social organizations, companies, and individuals should raise money for them. The government, facing the situation of a limited budget with unlimited selection, should pay more attention to early education to guarantee a bright future.
