Hydroelectricity-integrated essay

The reading and the lecture discuss about ''hydropower facility. Whereas, the reading passage states that hydropower facility is beneficial to people because it provides advantages such as; meet the demand of energy and help the local economy, it is clean and do not release gases, and it is inexpensive and efficient. In contrast, the speaker refutes these points and states that ''hidropower facility'' has some negatives effect such as; affect the people that lives close to the dam because it produces flooding, affect the environment, and change the river natural function.

In the first place, the reading states that hydropower meet people demand of energy and help the local economy. The speaker disagrees and posits that hydropower affect the people that lives close to the dam because the water surpass the level of dam's walls, flooring their houses, and obligating them to find new places to live.

Second, the article says that hydropower do not pollute the environment. On the other hand, the speaker is against this point, he explains that hydropower also damages the environment because it produces the buildup of heavy metals. In other words, it is not a clean alternative as the article said.

Finally, the article says that hydropower is inexpensive to build and very efficient. Contrary to this point, the speaker claims that in order to build a hydropower a huge dam needs to be built, as a result the river natural function will change. Because of this, places in the river will dry out and animals will be affected, or even die.
