The inclination of literature reading among young people
The passage states that there is an anclination in people to read literature nowadays and gives three reasons of support, but the professors is against this theory and contradicts each reason with an opposing one.
First, the reading states that nothing else can substitut the literature that provides intellectual stimulation which encourages us to excercise our imaginations and empathize, but the professors claims that history and politicle books which are more popular nowadays can be as intellectually stimulating as literature and are very good refferences for people to expand their understanding of language.
Second, the reading claims that the most read books are self-help ones which are poor in writing and intellectually undemanding, but the lecture opposes this idea and states that, the culture have been changed and people prefer other forms of medias like movies and musics which also have valuable contents.
Third, the passage states that because of the less amounts of literature readers, talented writers are being overshadowed and publishers are investing less in literature, but the professor belives that, it is the difficult contents of the modern literature written by these young writers which have lead the people not to read them.
