Integrated - TPO-44

The passage brings three reasons to show that the coin which was found at a Native American site is fake. However, the professor states that these reasons might not be true.

First of all, the reading states that there was a great distance between the Norse settlements and the place where the coin was discovered. The lecturer, however, argues that Norse people used to travel to very far places. In these trips, they could have taken these coins to the Native American site.

Secondly, the reading mentions that no other coin has been discovered at the Norse settlements. The professor believes that this might be due to the fact that Norse people had taken those coins back to Europe (along with their other possessions).

Finally, the reading points out that North Americans had no use for silver coins and they were useless to them. The lecturer asserts this fact but mentions that North Americans used to be interested in unusual objects. Therefore, Norse people could trade these coins as long as they were both unusual and interesting to Native Americans.
