The lecturer and the reading passage discuss the topic buzzing, which is a new type of advertisement or a tactic for selling more products. The lecturer casts doubt on several arguments that are presented in the reading passage.
For one thing, the lecturer challenges the reading passage by illustrating that although buzzers get paid by the company, buzzers a company hires are usually the people who have already bought the product and thought highly of the product. So it is a responsible behavior. This is the first obvious divergence where the lecturer disagrees with the passage.
In addition to that, the lecturer goes on to refute the passage by indicating that costumers are willing to ask buzzers questions about the price, the service, and the life expand of the product since they have experience of using the product. This shows the interest of consumers towards the product. As for this point, the passage asserts that it is the buzzers that make consumers believe in the power of the product, which could possibly deceive consumers. The passag believes that such behavior may even let consumers suffer a loss. So the assertion in the passage is not persuasive.
Furthermore, according to the lecturer, the lecturer counters the passage by announcing that buzzers are willing to share their experience of the product since they do have a good experience of the product, which appears to be a contradiction to the passage that buzzing perhaps jeopardise social relationships because one may not believe a person anymore once he realizes that the man is a buzzer. This is the last explicit point where the lecturer objects to the passage.
