Summarize the points made in the lecture, being sure to explain how they cast doubt on the points made in the reading passage.
The author states that one fact is certain that we are experiencing a global warming and give three reasons to support that. However, the lecturer casts doubt on each point of the author and states that there is no conclusion to prove that we are experiencing a global warming. The lecturer give three pints to oppose that.
First of all, the author posits that data from sophisticated instruments across the globe indicate a warming trend. In contrast, the lecturer casts doubt on this point by mentioning that thermometers from weather stations on the surface of the Earth are not trustoworthy. These instruments are not well-maintained or monitored or controlled. In addition, a general warming in Usa and Europe did not exist after 1979.
Second, the author avers that unsually high number of icebergs calved from Antarctica in recent years has prompted many to see the reality of global warming. However, the speaker contradicts this point by stating that evidence of an icebergs is flwed. Furthermore, this evidence is failed to mention that a rising tempratures is because of both warming and cooling. The numbers of icebergs are unnatural and related to non-warming. It takes times to study and reaserch for that.
Last, the author states that unbiased organizations such as respected newspapers and international organizations have considered the evidence and accepted as fact the idea that there is a warning trend. In contrast, the speaker challenges this point by saying that these unbiased organizations are not respected carefully. The report by UNEP was publised before it was evaluated. The report is not to inform people but it just to sell papers.
