The lecturer disputes the author's assumptions that it is impossible to maintain human presence on Venus planet. He provides three concrete reasons to cast doubt about the author's claims.
First, according to the lecturer a spaceship cannot land on Venus because the atmospheric pressure on the it's surface is very high compared to the earth. However, the lecturer finds this idea debatable. He contends that life on Venus is possible and a spaceship needs not to land on this planet. Instead, it can float above the surface where the atmospheric pressure on this altitude is similar to earth.
Second, the lecturer contradicts the fallacy of the passage that since water and oxygen are not available on this planet, life cannot exist. He points out that life on this planet can indeed exist because astronauts can need not bring oxygen and water from earth. Instead, it can be produced from Sulfur oxide and nitrogen.
Finally, the author claims that there is no enough sunshine on Venus to support life. On the other hand, the lecturer argues that because clouds above Venus are thin, light can penetrate through them. Moreover, the light reflected from the clouds can also provide power to the spaceship.
