The passage talks about the first people who migrated to the American continent entered the continent via a land bridge called Beringia which joined Eastern Asia with North America. The professor disagrees with this claim by providing various examples.
First of all, the professor says that ice sheets melted about 13000 years ago. But the passage claims that people who entered Nothern Amercia came through Beringia. Since Beringia was supposedly frozen and filled with ice people couldn't migrate which does not add up.
Secondly, the professor states that there are archaeological sites which suggest that there are remains that are much more older. To bolster this, the professor gives examples of remains found in the Eastern United states that are 19000 years old and in South America that are from pre Clovis time and are about 15000 years old. So such evidence does not tally with the claims of the passage that the first settlers came between 13000 and 11000 years ago.
Finally, the professor says that the old remains found do not resemble to the Native Americans. They resembled to the people from Northern Japan. In addition to this, DNA analysis shows that people from Siberia migrated to America 40000 years ago which is way before the Clovis people. This data furthur weakens the claims made by the passage.
