Populations of the yellow cedar

Essay topics:

Populations of the yellow cedar

Both the lecturer and the passage discusses whether the possible decline of the cedar trees in northwestern North America is unraveling or not. The passage provides three causes to explain the decline of the tree; however, the lecturer negates all the causes which are blamed for the decline of the tree.

To begin, the passage accuses cedar bark beetle as one of the causes of the decline of the tree. it says that beetle larva feeds on the tree bark which is responsible for the tree's death. Although the insect feed on the tree's bark, to blame it as the main cause for the tree decline is unsound. According to the lecture, the healthy tree of cedar releases the chemical that prevents the insect feed on the bark. possibly, the insects feed on the dying tree but, only due to these feeding habits, it is ridiculous to say that it is the prime cause for the tree decline.

Again, the bear is another explanation for the possible cause for the tree decline. Its scratching habit on the tree's bark presses the tree for the die out. The bear does so mainly due to feeding on the bark of the cedar which is high in sugar. however, the lecturer refutes the point by saying that the tree population is declining even in the place where no dear life. so it questioned the conclusion of the passage how we can blame the bear for the tree's decline after knowing that it has no role in the decline of the tree, in the place where no bear is alive.

Lastly, contrary to the passage that global warming is responsible for the decline, the lecturer posits that it has no role in the process. She added if global warming is responsible for the decline, the tree species in the higher elevation should be suffered more than the species of a tree which lies in lower elevation. it is obvious that if root freezes effect is the cause for the decline, the more species suffered in the higher elevation. however, the consequences are sharply the opposite. By evidencing this, claiming global warming is responsible for the decline is irrational.
