Pterosaurs

Essay topics:

Pterosaurs

The reading mainly talks about the reasons why pterosaurs can't fly. However, in the listening, the woman challenges what is stated in the passage with three strong reasons.

Firstly, in the passage, it is said that pterosaurs are cold-blooded animals and they are unable to generate enough energy for them to fly. But in the listening, the woman thinks that dense hairs are covered on the surface of pterosaurs, it's possible for pterosaurs to keep a high temperature and generate enough energy to fly.

Secondly, it's stated in the passage that pterosaurs are too heavy to fly. On the contrary, the woman believes that bones of pterosaurs are small and their air-bones make them able to fly above the wind.

Last but not least, the passage holds a perspective that pterosaurs don't have strong enough muscles for them to launch themselves into the air. On the other hand, the speaker thinks pterosaurs can launch because they have four legs rather than two legs. These legs can provide enough speed and height for pterosaurs to launch.
