R. robustus
The lecturer talks about various aspects of R. robustus that imply that it actively ran and hunted its prey which is in stark contrast to what the passage suggests.
Firstly, it is generally the case that the animals that hunted other animals are roughly twice the mass of their prey. Taking this observation into consideration, R. robustus was approximately twice the mass of baby psittacosaur dinosaur and the lecturer decisively concludes that R. robustus in fact hunted baby psittacosaur dinosaur and other similar sized animals. This assertion by the lecturer rebuts the passage which claim that R. robustus could not have hunted the dinosaur due to its small size.
Secondly, an animal named Tasmania Devil has similar leg position when compared to that of R. robustus. And Tasmania Devil can reach speeds up to 50 KMPH. Given that Tasmania Devil can run at such speed, it can be safely inferred that R. robustus also ran at similar speeds enabling it to chase fast moving prey. This is in contradiction to the passage that implies that the leg position of R. robustus would not enable them to run at high speed.
Finally, the passage points out that there are no teeth marks on the dinosaur bones found in the R. robustus fossil which indicates that R. robustus fed on the eggs of the dinosaur while scavenging. However, it is said in the lecture, that R. robustus, in spite of having strong jaw bones, did not chew its prey. Instead, R. robustus swallowed its prey in large pieces which explains the absence of teeth marks on the fossil bones.
