The article and the lecture are discussed about the airships. The passage tells about the advantages for the potential use of
airships in future. However, the lecture refutes the claims of the passage by providing supporting evidencial documents for
which the airships can not be used in future. According to the professor, the airships are less acceptable to be used in future for
three different reasons. The reasons are stated below.
First of all, although airships need less amount of fuel in compare to other vehicles like airplanes or helicopters, the fuel used in
airships should be lighter than the air. The only available fuel suitable for airships for this purpose is hydrogen or hellium. The
lecture mentions that the use of hydrogen would be very dangerous as it may ignite fire easily. He referred the previous airships
burning accidents to show about how dangerous the use of hydrogen could be. On the other hand the hellium is costly and are
not easy to extract it. As hellium has these limitations and are not able to produce high lifting, it would not be as effective as
today's airplanes. As a result, these statement of the lecture refutes the idea that the use of airships would be economical.
Secondly, The lecture depicts that the lifting of loads by airships would face a lot of challenges. The smoth landing in between
the forest is necessary to pick up the tree log which would be very difficult as the winds could move the huge ballons of
airships. This proves that the concepts of conveying heavy loads by airships are vague and incorrect.
Finally, The lecture states that the airships can move vertically only 14 km away from the surface where the aiships have to
work against strong winds. This could use a lot of fuel to keep the airships stationary and it would not be possible to make and
uninterrupted service by the airships, as refuelling of airships would necessary- that the satellite can provide us. In contrary, the
refuelling process would augment the financial cost.
