The reading passage claims that Peary did reach the North Pole, and provide strong supports for his claim. However, the professor in the lecture casts doubts on the points made in the reading.
First, considering the article the National Geographic Society investigation of Peary's records and concluded that Peary's accounts were consistent. In the same way, the professor in the lecture validates the idea and adds that committee was completely objective and most of them were his friends, in this way maybe their confirm seems bias.
Second, the reading claims that skeptics use to argue that Peary could not have traveled so fast and only in 37 days. However, the article provides report about a British explorer that recently made the same trek in less than 37 days. Admittedly, the speaker justified the information presented in the reading and make the points that explorer' s travel was not similar Peary's journey because Peary carry a lot of foods and equipment with his ship during the travel and that kind of thing made his ship so heavy for moving so fast in 37 days toward North Pole.
Third, the writer puts forward the idea that there are some photos were taken by Peary and support his claim. In contrast, the professor holds a conflicting view about the photos and makes the points that these pictures captured with primary camera, and most of them are blur.
