A recent study reveals that people especially young people are reading far less literature—novels, plays, and poems—than they used to. This is troubling because the trend has unfortunate effects for the reading public, for culture in general, and for

The article states that by a recent study, young people are reading fewer literature novels, plays, and poems. And it affects the culture and future of literature in a bad way. The reading also provides three reasons for the support this. However, the professor explains that it is often true that they use less time to read books but this not affect culture in deteriorate way and refutes each of the author's reasons.

Firstly, the article claims that young people are reading fewer literature books. As a result, they have to think less intellectual and losing their imaginations and not improving understanding of language. Anyhow, the professor rebuts this by stating that the literature book is not only one which requires intellectual thinking and can stimulate the imagination. There many other books can do that. Such as scientific study, history, and political analysis.

Secondly, the reading posits that young people are wasting time by reading some poorly written and superficial nonintellectual self-helping book instead of reading literature. They are also wasting time watching television. However, the professor contends that watching good movies and brilliant music is not wasting time. They can learn diverse thing from them because there is various category available which is very beneficial for culture.

Finally, the article avers that the publisher invests less in literature. Therefore, writers are making less good literature and this is happening because of lack audience. Still, the professor opposes this by saying that it may true but it's not depending on audiences. It might be a modern writer who writes very complex literature.
